Bio

 Alexander Cox is quickly making a name for himself as a vibrant up and coming American cellist. Mr. Cox was named winner of CIM's coveted concerto competition and subsequently made his Cleveland orchestral debut performing Bloch's Schelomo with the CIM orchestra conducted by James Feddeck. He has had the great fortune of being accepted to participate in numerous competitions, most recently in the Hudson Valley Philharmonic Competition, The  Sphinx Competition and the Stulberg International Competition.  
Alexander has been invited to spend his summers participating in Indiana University's String Academy headed by Mimi Zweig, Meadowmount School of Music, the Banff Centre, Sarasota Music Festival, and the Perlman Music Program Chamber Workshop where he worked with Donald Weilerstein, Roger Tapping, Merry Peckham, and Itzhak Perlman. 
Mr. Cox has performed with artists such as Peter Salaff and Donald Weilerstein of the Cleveland Quartet, Joan Kwuon, Paul Kantor, Jeffrey Irvine, Melissa Kraut, Merry Peckham as well as members of the Cleveland Orchestra. As soloist he made his debut in 2005 with the Boston Pops and later performed with the New World Symphony. 
Cox lives in Cleveland, Ohio where he is a founding member of the Omer Quartet, with whom he has performed across North America and been featured on WCLV, and CBC radio station(Canada).
He currently attends the Cleveland Institute of Music as the Sphinx Scholarship recipient studying with renowned pedagogue Melissa Kraut. 
Teachers and musical mentors include David Cole, Orlando Cole, Hans Jorgen Jensen, Donald Weilerstein, Mark Steinberg, Elizabeth Demio, the Cavani Quartet, Paul Kantor, and Peter Salaff.
